During gestation, the woman's immune system must be able to adapt to this new state so that it does not recognize the embryo as foreign and its development proceeds normally.
Any alteration of this immune system can cause the Natural Killer lymphocytes to respond in an exaggerated manner and cause a miscarriage in the first weeks of pregnancy.
These women may suffer several miscarriages or infertility of immunological origin during their lifetime if they do not receive adequate treatment.
