An embryo with 3 days of development, that is, 3 days after fertilization, has approximately 6-8 cells. When a PGD embryo biopsy is performed on these embryos, only one or two blastomeres are extracted, which are processed in the laboratory to obtain their genetic material (DNA) and analyze it for mutations or aneuploidies.
