The REM semen analysis consists of counting motile spermatozoa after capacitation of the seminal sample. Depending on the result of the REM semen analysis, the specialists will opt for one assisted reproduction technique or another.
If the REM is higher than 3 million spermatozoa, artificial insemination (AI) is possible. On the other hand, if the EMR is lower than this value, in vitro fertilization (IVF) would be necessary. Even if the EMR is less than 1 million spermatozoa, then the indicated fertilization technique would be ICSI.
