MACS is a complementary technique that allows the selection of healthy spermatozoa and the elimination of apoptotic spermatozoa. For this reason, MACS helps to improve pregnancy and live birth rates, especially in males with poor sperm quality.
However, this technique also has some drawbacks. For example, the quantity of spermatozoa is considerably reduced and, therefore, it is advisable to perform IVF-ICSI. In addition, sperm selection by MACS has a higher cost compared to other traditional sperm selection methods.
