One of the reasons for a woman's failure to ovulate is hormonal disturbances. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the main cause of anovulation within the group of hormonal disorders. However, PCOS is not the only cause.
Excess prolactin, i.e. hyperprolactinemia, or thyroid gland disorders can also cause ovulatory dysfunction in women.
