Embryo transfer at day 5 of development or at the blastocyst stage has benefits for the likelihood of IVF success. First of all, blastocyst transfer allows for better embryo selection in the laboratory. By spending more days in culture, specialists will be able to observe how they evolve and select the best embryo to transfer.
This also helps a better synchronization with the endometrium, increasing the chances of embryo implantation.
Finally, day 5 embryo transfer offers the possibility of performing more transfers of a single embryo. The advantage of this is that the risk of multiple pregnancy is reduced.
