Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a disorder caused by an abnormally high response of the ovary to medication and is triggered after injection of the hCG hormone.
The risk of OHSS occurring in artificial insemination is very low since the stimulation performed is moderate and only a few eggs are able to mature. However, it is necessary for the gynecologist to adequately monitor the treatment to avoid any risk of suffering this syndrome.
