Choosing an assisted reproduction technique

When you have been having regular unprotected sex for more than a year and you are not able to get pregnant, it is time to visit a fertility specialist. He will request various medical tests to determine the possible cause. In addition, to decide the best reproductive treatment, he will assess the woman's age, ovarian reserve, fallopian tube patency and seminal quality.

For example, if the woman is under 35 years of age, her ovarian reserve is good and the fallopian tubes are permeable, the doctor will recommend artificial insemination (AI). However, if the fallopian tubes are not permeable, AI would not be an option because the egg and sperm would not meet.
