The exact cause of breast cancer is not known to date, but there are some risk factors for this disease. Some of them are listed below:
- Being over 45 years old.
- Obesity.
- Alcohol consumption.
- First pregnancy after the age of 35.
- Having a family history of breast cancer.
- BCRA gene mutation.
In addition, women who had their first period before the age of 12, who take hormone therapy for menopause or have a personal history of benign breast alteration, also have a higher risk of breast cancer. However, this does not mean that women in any of these cases will necessarily develop the disease.
