Feto-fetal transfusion syndrome is a placental disorder that can occur in monochorionic pregnancies, when both babies are identical and share a placenta. Since the babies' blood vessels are connected, one baby may receive more oxygen and nutrients than the other. This second baby will be stunted and may even die if this problem is not corrected by intervention.
