Even though single women and lesbian couples can access to fertility care as well, only heterosexual couples can use donor eggs.
The reason behind this requirement is that Danish regulations do not allow for double-donor IVF, i.e. using both donor eggs and donor sperm. Given that no male partner is available in the case of single women and lesbian couples, and therefore they have to necessarily use donor sperm, they have no choice but to contribute their own eggs.
