In an in vitro fertilisation (IVF) cycle, eggs are obtained by follicular puncture after controlled ovarian stimulation of the patient. The eggs are then taken to the laboratory, where they are fertilised by conventional IVF or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
Once fertilised, the eggs are placed in the incubator. If this is an Embryoscope, we will be able to see a video of the 3-5 days of embryonic development that the embryo will remain inside until it is transferred, vitrified or discarded.
