Limitations of the Embryoscope

The Embryoscope incubator, which incorporates the time-lapse system, has many advantages as it allows continuous monitoring of embryo development. However, the Embryoscope also has some limitations:

• The embryo cannot be rotated for assessment, as it is being observed via video.
• Bubbles in the culture medium may prevent the assessment of certain stages of embryo development.
• The cost of hatching embryos with time-lapse technology is higher.

However, time-lapse incubators provide more information on embryo development and are of great help in choosing the best embryo to transfer, so many clinics have incorporated them into their laboratories.
