Essential thrombocythemia is a blood disorder characterized by the presence of exaggerated levels of platelets. The main consequence of essential thrombocythemia is a tendency to bleeding and thrombus formation.
Normally, the increase of platelets in the blood does not cause symptoms at first, although as the platelet concentration increases, it will produce clinical manifestations.
