Cristina Algarra, psychologist specialized in assisted reproduction for InviTRA, explains in this video what types of ovarian cysts we can find:
Generally we have the most common type which is the functional cyst, but we also have some less frequent types of cyst that can also affect us.
There is the serous cystadenoma, this is a cyst that is filled with thick, clear liquid and it is quite large in shape and size. We can also find mucinous cystadenoma: this cyst is filled with a bluish-grey liquid, it´s round smooth on the outside, and large in size.
An endometrioma is formed by the endometriosis tissue, they are usually cysts filled with dark chocolate-like liquid that are from the endometriosis tissue cells. And lastly, dermoid cysts, these cysts are caused by germ cells, that can become malignant tumors.
So it is important to take into account the importance of getting regular checkups, going to the gynecologist so they can diagnose and pick up on any cyst we may have.
