Blood tests to check hormone values during a female fertility test should be done at specific times during the menstrual cycle.
Specifically, the hormones FSH, LH, oestradiol and prolactin are analysed at the beginning of the menstrual cycle, about 3-5 days after the onset of menstruation. As for progesterone, this should be analysed around day 20 of the cycle, once ovulation has occurred.
On the other hand, the value of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) does not vary with the menstrual cycle and can therefore be tested at any time. Normally, one of the previous blood draws is also used to test for AMH.
