In the case of a bilateral tubal factor, that is, when both fallopian tubes are affected, natural pregnancy will be impossible. Because of this, the woman can resort to surgery to recanalize the fallopian tubes or to assisted reproduction.
However, recanalization surgery can be complex and does not always have satisfactory results. Therefore, it is common for many women with bilateral tubal factor to resort to in vitro fertilization (IVF) to achieve gestation.
