Sperm freezing in men is usually recommended for patients who are planning to have a vasectomy. This way they will be able to become fathers in the future after the intervention if they wish to do so by using their own sperm sample in a fertility treatment.
Other indications for which sperm freezing is advised are in patients with poor sperm quality, difficulty in obtaining the sample, in sperm donors and in transsexuals.
