Fertility treatments are carried out in people who wish to achieve pregnancy and do not succeed after trying for some time. Depending on the cause of infertility or sterility, it will be necessary to resort to artificial insemination (AI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Specifically, the percentages of a couple's fertility problems are divided into the following values:
- 30% of cases due to problems in the male.
- 30% of the cases are due to problems in the female.
- 20% of the cases are of mixed origin.
The remaining 20% are due to sterility situations of unknown origin, that is to say, there are no problems in either the male or the female.
