Becoming friends with my egg donor

Hello there, I’m about to become a father through surrogacy in the United Sates, I’m in a bundle of joy right now 🙂 I’ve already contacted an agency and I’ll get myself started with the contracts and all that stuff. Oh and I forgot to say I’ll be a single dad so I’ve no choice but to use an egg donor to create embryos with my own sperm so that the baby takes after me to some extent. I’m super excited! I’d like my egg donor’s physical features were similar to mine, and if at the same time she could be my friend or at least she let me meet her in person that’ll be awesome you know… I want to let my baby know about his genetic mother. As far as I know you can choose who you want to be your egg donor in the US, is it true? Does it mean I’ll be able to become friends with her? Thx.

In the United States, egg donors can be known or remain anonymous. If you choose known egg donation, you will be allowed not only to meet your donor in person, but also to contact her on a regular basis. If that’s what you want, you should tell your clinic or agency so that you’re offered only candidates who are willing to do so, which is to say, they are willing to meet you in person and get to know you and the baby-to-be.
