Post HSG dye test side effects and precautions

Hey! I'm new to this forum... Just started with the whole test thing to see what's the problem as we've been TTC for 1 year but no BFP has come out yet and I'm 35. I've done some fertility tests but not my Doc asked for an hysterosalpingography and I'm really afraid I read that the side effects involved are too many and I almost said no, I consider myself a very sensitive person. My threshold of pain is super low. At times I want to stop all this and say no to becoming a mother. I'm very afraid of the pain. They say HSG pain is a period-like sharp pain. Since my first ever period, the pain I feel with my periods is almost unbearable. I've visited my doctor many times and she says there's no apparent cause (It's not endometriosis). I've read quite a lot about HSG and it terrifies me... I don't understand why do I have to suffer like this just to bring a child into the world.... I feel it's unfair. Honestly, I'd be very grateful if you could share your experience, as no one surrounding me is able to tell me how it feels. Thanks!
