Fragile X Syndrome is characterized by mental retardation but can also manifest through other symptoms.
Physical manifestations include the following:
- Long face and broad forehead.
- Large and protruding ears.
- Prominent jaw.
- Macroorchidism or large testicles.
Other features of Fragile X Syndrome are mental problems, association with autism, increased mobility of the joints, etc.
Despite all these characteristic symptoms of the syndrome and more common in men, the presence of early menopause is common in women carriers of this genetic disease.
