Reflux and heartburn is one of the most common discomforts of pregnancy. However, there are some things pregnant women can do to try to reduce it:
- Eat small, but frequent meals. This will prevent the stomach from becoming too full (which would encourage reflux). It is also advisable to eat slowly and chew well.
- Avoid heavy meals, fried foods, spicy foods, tea, coffee, chocolate, citrus fruits, tomatoes, soft drinks...
- After eating, wait before going to bed. It may also help to sleep reclining a little.
Finally, another tip is to wear loose-fitting clothes that do not compress the pregnant woman's abdomen.
