IVM is an assisted reproductive technology that does not require ovarian stimulation and, therefore, reduces the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.
Therefore, some of the situations in which IVM would be indicated are the following:
- Polycystic ovary syndrome or polycystic ovaries
- Risk of ovarian hyperstimulation or trying to avoid ovarian stimulation
- Fertility preservation
- Low response to ovarian stimulation
