Prolactin is a pituitary hormone involved in male reproductive function. This hormone acts on Leydig cells and is involved in testosterone synthesis.
Normal levels of prolactin in the male are between 2.5-17 ng/mL. If the male has higher prolactin levels than those mentioned above, he may have low testosterone levels. In addition, the male may suffer from erectile dysfunction or sexual impotence, infertility and even hypothyroidism.
