The World Health Organization (WHO) establishes a series of reference values for each analysis of different semen parameters. In this way it is possible to assess whether a man is suffering from male infertility.
The macroscopic parameters of semen refer to those aspects that can be evaluated with the naked eye, without the use of a microscope. Within these parameters the following are distinguished:
- Volume: normally between 2 and 4 mL.
- Liquefaction.
- Viscosity.
- pH, which must be a basic pH..
- Color: semen has a yellowish gray color.
