To perform the prenatal triple screening test, the following parameters are taken into account: determination of beta-hCG and PAPP-A, the nuchal fold, the mother's age and weight.
Alterations in these fetal measurements may indicate the presence of chromosomal abnormalities such as Down syndrome.
In the event of an altered result indicating a possible risk, an invasive prenatal test such as amniocentesis will be necessary to rule out a chromosomal problem in the fetus.
