The disadvantages of natural childbirth are very few compared to those of cesarean section, but women should also be aware of them before the time comes to give birth.
The dilation of the vagina and the contractions make the pain before and during labor very intense. For this reason, many women require epidural anesthesia. On the other hand, labor, the phase prior to delivery, is very long and can last more than 10 hours.
Finally, the woman may suffer a tear in the perineum or need to have an episiotomy so that the baby can come out.
