Women suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) may have hormonal disturbances such as hyperandrogenism. This situation is characterized by elevated levels of androgens in the blood and by the presence of certain clinical features such as acne or hirsutism (hair in typically male areas such as the chin).
In addition, this increase in androgens can affect the correct functioning of the ovarian cycle, which can lead to problems of oligoovulation or anovulation.
