The first day of the last menstrual period is considered to be the first day of pregnancy and therefore the beginning of the first week of pregnancy. Keeping this in mind, actually conception hasn't taken place at this point. During this week, the woman has her menses and the symptoms associated include:
- Vaginal bleeding
- Abdominal and side pain
- Mood swings
- Bloating
- Nausea, diarrhea, or constipation
- Acne
