Menstruation is the phase of a woman's cycle when vaginal bleeding occurs. This bleeding is due to the shedding of the endometrium after a drop in estrogen and progesterone levels.
This stage is also called a period because it is a cyclical process that repeats itself every month. In each woman, menstruation has a different duration, appearance, and amount.
