There are some women who notice a pain between menses, approximately in the middle of the cycle, which corresponds to the time of ovulation. This pain usually subsides within a few hours and usually occurs on only one side of the abdomen (the side of the ovary that is ovulating in that menstrual cycle). Occasionally, intermenstrual pain is also accompanied by slight cramping.
