There are some situations in which a vaginal delivery may pose certain risks to the mother or baby, and therefore in these cases a planned caesarean section may be performed. These situations include:
- Breech (breech) or transverse presentation of the baby.
- Multiple pregnancy.
- Placenta previa.
- Fibroids that may cause obstruction.
- Hydrocephalus in the baby.
- Maternal illnesses.
Similarly, a previous caesarean section may mean that the pregnant woman will again have a caesarean birth. However, vaginal delivery is possible after a caesarean section on certain occasions.
