During a few months post vasectomy, one should be 100% sure that his sperm count is zero before having unprotected intercourse. To do this, a recheck should be done within 3 months after the procedure. If the result is azoospermia (zero sperm count) or below 100,000 motile sperm, sperm clearance can be given.
If motile sperm are still present 6 months after vasectomy, repeating the procedure may be required.
