The preseminal or pre-ejaculatory fluid is produced in Cowper's glands and Littre's glands and passes directly into the urethra to be expelled.
In contrast, the other components of semen are produced in other glands further away from the urethra (the prostate and seminal vesicles), as are the sperm, which are stored in the epididymis and are not expelled until the man reaches orgasm.
