During pregnancy, the kidneys increase the volume of blood they must filter, since blood volume increases during pregnancy.
On the other hand, the uterus during pregnancy puts pressure on the bladder. Thus, the pregnant woman will notice an increase in the frequency of urination.
Finally, there are other changes in the urinary system that can lead to urinary tract infections (UTIs).
