During pregnancy, important physiological changes occur at the cardiovascular level, among which we can highlight the following:
- Increase in blood volume.
- Increase in cardiac output.
- Increase in heart rate.
- Gradual decrease in blood pressure.
- Displacement of the position of the heart.
- Hypercoagulable state.
In addition, it is common for feet, ankles and legs to swell due to fluid retention, since venous return is hindered.
