Vomiting and nausea are common in pregnant women, especially during the first trimester of pregnancy. However, hyperemesis gravidarum is a more severe manifestation in which nausea and vomiting are constant during pregnancy.
This situation leads to dehydration, malnutrition and weight loss. As for the baby, hyperemesis gravidarum may lead to premature delivery and low birth weight.
