When a woman's ovarian reserve, i.e. the number of eggs, is low, in vitro fertilisation (IVF) with egg donation is usually the recommended fertility treatment. This reproductive option has a high success rate, as the eggs come from young, healthy women and their quality is usually good.
Taking into account the latest statistical registry prepared by the Spanish Fertility Society (SEF) and corresponding to the year 2021, the IVF delivery rate with own eggs in women over 40 years of age was 11.6%, while the IVF delivery rate with egg donation was 42.2%.
