Man with hepatitis B

Before any assisted reproduction technique can be performed, a serology for infectious diseases, including hepatitis B, must be performed.

If the virus is present in the blood or if there are antibodies against the virus in the blood, it will be necessary to see what to do depending on which member of the couple is affected. If it is the male partner who is affected by hepatitis B, a seminal lavage should be performed to eliminate the viral load from the semen and to be able to use the sperm without problems. In addition, it will be necessary to vaccinate the woman against hepatitis B to avoid possible contagion.
