The diagnosis of premature ovarian failure is made by means of an exhaustive amnesia together with a physical and gynecological examination. In addition, the clinical history is usually accompanied by an analysis to determine the values of the hormones FSH and estradiol. In this way, if the analysis shows values of high FSH and low estradiol, it determines the existence of POF.
Otherwise, a karyotype can be performed in case the cause of POF is a chromosomal alteration.
