Sperm and oxidative stress

Oxidative stress is caused by molecules in the body known as reactive oxygen species (ROS).

ROS are a natural product of oxygen metabolism but can be increased by unhealthy habits such as smoking, radiation, pollution, etc. Inflammatory processes caused by some infections also increase oxidative stress.

As a consequence, the DNA of the sperm suffers damage that worsens the male's seminal quality.
