Oxidative stress is caused by molecules in the body known as reactive oxygen species (ROS).
ROS are a natural product of oxygen metabolism but can be increased by unhealthy habits such as smoking, radiation, pollution, etc. Inflammatory processes caused by some infections also increase oxidative stress.
As a consequence, the DNA of the sperm suffers damage that worsens the male's seminal quality.
