Teratomas are tumors composed of various cells of embryonic origin. In most cases, they are benign, in which case they are called mature teratomas.
The most common site where they grow are the female ovaries, although less frequently they can grow in other body parts such as the skull, mediastinum, retroperitoneal space (retroperitoneum), mesentery, and the sacrococcygeal region. All of them are tagged in this diagram.
