Controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) is the first phase of any fertility treatment. In the case of artificial insemination (AI), ovarian stimulation is gentler since only one or at most two ovarian follicles are intended to develop. In contrast, IVF requires a greater amount of medication to provoke the development of multiple ovarian follicles.
In any case, ovarian stimulation should be controlled and personalized for each patient, but gonadotropins should be administered to increase ovarian activity.
