The first phase of ovarian stimulation in a fertility process is to block the ovaries to keep them at rest. In this way, it is easier to control the growth of the ovarian follicles.
To achieve this, the ovaries are kept at rest by administering drugs containing the GnRH analogue hormone. In Spain, the brand names of some of these drugs are Cetrotide, Orgalutran, Synarel, Procrin and Decapeptyl. In other countries different drugs may be administered due to the laws in that country, and the name used for marketing may differ.
The decision as to which medication to administer will be made by the specialist taking into account the characteristics of each patient.
