Curettage is a gynecological intervention that serves to solve several alterations of the uterus or even to perform a diagnostic biopsy of the endometrium. The following are some of the indications for curettage:
- Incomplete or retained miscarriage.
- Voluntary termination of pregnancy.
- Removal of endometrial polyps.
- Embedding of the IUD in the endometrium.
In addition, curettage is also used on certain occasions to treat disorders such as bleeding between menses or very heavy menstruation.
