Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that may be asymptomatic and whose cause is unknown. There are several types of fibroids and the way they are treated will depend on the age of the woman, her desire to become a mother, the size of the fibroid, etc.
Sometimes the treatment of uterine fibroids begins with non-invasive therapies based on the use of analgesics, hormonal contraceptives or hormonal treatment with GnRH agonists. If this non-invasive option is not successful, then invasive treatments such as myomectomy or hysteroscopy, for example, are used.
