Having a septate uterus is the most common uterine anomaly in females. It is caused by an incorrect resorption of the central septum that used to separate the Müllerian ducts in two during the formation of the uterus.
As a consequence, the uterus develops with a septum that can cause recurrent miscarriage or preterm birth.
