When to insert the vaginal ring

The first time the contraceptive ring is used it should be inserted no later than 5 days after menstruation. It will remain in the woman's vagina for 3 weeks, or 21 days. Once this time has elapsed, the woman will remove the contraceptive ring and in two or three days her period will arrive.

Usually, menstruation lasts one week, after which the woman must insert a new contraceptive ring.
