During pregnancy, the iron needs of pregnant women increase. This is why the so-called iron deficiency anemia can appear, if adequate amounts of iron are not ingested.
Iron can be consumed through the diet, from foods such as:
- Clams, clams and mussels.
- Red meat and organ meats.
- Legumes.
- Nuts.
However, the specialist may consider it necessary for the pregnant woman to take iron supplements, especially after the 20th week of pregnancy.
